This is an important program for the health and safety of Ontario's people and environment. While there may an area of overlap, there are also areas not covered by the federal government. Lire davantage

I have serious concerns about the repeal of an act which was designed to protect Ontarians and our environment. These protections are vital and I believe that they cannot possibly be taken too seriously. I do not support the repeal of the toxic reductions act.

This proposal would do away with a LAW that deals with: -Prevent pollution by reducing the use and creation of toxic substances. -Inform Ontarians about those substances. and replace it with a "Plan", run by the federal government, which gives incentives but does not regulate. Lire davantage

I think this is absolutely the wrong direction this government should follow. Open for business should not mean that we repeal a measure that is designed to protect the people of our province. Protection of our environment should always supersede the interests of business. Lire davantage

Need to establish safe surface water concentrations for toxic chemicals including toxic mixtures. How can you manage what you can’t measure to ndicate there is or is not a problem.

If I understand the purpose of this repeal properly, it will reduce unnecessary duplication and the burden on industry to comply with provincial legislation. What ‘burden’ does it currently impose? Lire davantage

Thank you for making industry more accountable for toxin use and to look for safer alternatives. This is a step in the right direction

I don't see it as duplication of requirements. It further strengthens compliance by covering Provincial jurisdiction not covered by Federal law. The Toxics Reduction Program did not achieved significant reductions simply because it was voluntary.

Decreasing environmental regulations is the wrong thing to do at this point in our history. We know that. The only people who think that that's a good idea is corporations that don't want to wait or pay to do the right thing. And the individuals who put forward this bill.

This is ridiculous. We do not need to cut this kind of “red tape”. We need to protect the environment for the future and for our children. I’m angry that Doug Ford is putting the interests of private business ahead of the environment which belongs to all Ontarians now, and in the future. Lire davantage

A 0.04% reduction is better than no reduction. Stop calling this a Toxics Reduction Program. You are eliminating a program and not replacing it, which means we can expect toxics increases. Lire davantage

You have not provided enough information to allow people to make informed comments. You should provide a comprehensive list of what is and is not duplicated in the federal legislation. Lire davantage

Regulations of toxins is not red tape. It is accountability and protection of our health. To reduce any safety measures re toxins is foolhardy. I am old enough to remember Walkerton. You have done away with the environment commissioner. The chief scientist also. Lire davantage

I am a private citizen. Parent. Live in the GTA. I in now way would benefit from Industry to cut the red tape on not reporting nor reducing their toxic substances. I do understand the premise is to reduce duplication but it is not clear how much duplication or how the programs are carried out. Lire davantage

While I appreciate any effort to reduce regulatory redundancy, moving to repeal the Toxics Reduction Act prior to it being proven to be redundant is short sighted - at best. Lire davantage

I oppose the repealing of the Toxics Reduction Act. We deserve the right to breath clean air. Industry must be responsible for their actions and clean up their emissions whether it is to the air or water or soil etc. Health care costs will only increase if toxic emissions are allowed by industry. I oppose this proposal to repeal the Toxics Reduction Act in its entirely. We have the right to breath clean air and drink clean water. It would cost billions of dollars to upgrade water treatment plants to remove the toxins industry could emit with the elimination of this Act. Lire davantage
