I am a proud Ontario resident, and I have the following comments and concerns with Bill 108 and Changes to the Conservation Authorities Act (schedule 2).
• Conservation Authorities are a unique made-in-Ontario model that has stood the test of time for over 70 years.

I would like to see a review of the role of Conservation Ontario and all of the 36 conservation authorities.

Given the widespread concerns regarding flood management, water quality, wildlife extinction, etc. I suggest that conservation authorities need to retain, if not increase, control regarding the decision-making and input towards environmental regulations.

Though it's quite unclear how the government plans to "modernize" conservation authorities, I am concerned that these changes will result in threats to public safety. Conservation authorities protect our sourcewater, which is crucial for keeping clean drinking water.

I am greatly concerned with that the provincial government has proposed to “modernize” the Conservation Authorities Act.
The More Homes, More Choice 2019 Bill 108 proposes changes to 13 different Acts including the Conservation Authorities Act as Schedule 2.

1. Remove the requirement for budget approval from individual municipal councils for watershed-based programs considered non- mandatory.
