Lands should not be unilaterally exempt from the Environmental Assessment process, rather discussed in partnership with First Nations prior to the exemption to ensure that land is in an acceptable condition before adding to reserve lands.

Do not eliminate the EA process for land claim settlements unless ALL goals of the EA process are taken care of elsewhere to ensure the sustainability of our actions and country for future generations - the Indigenous communities and ours as all citizens.

I applaud the decision made by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation, and Parks regarding Indigenous communities which are involved in land claims to be exempted from the current EA requirements related to acquiring lands. Lire davantage

This proposal appears to be another attempt by the Provincial Government to strip the EAA of the many requirements that have been it place for years. To state that the requirements for public consultation and participation are covered by other agencies is a load of crap. Lire davantage
