Streamlined Assessments only work if there is no new ground being broken, ie- we are only updated existing infrastructure. Any new project, regardless of it's size and intent, should need a full EAA, as we are in the midst of a climate emergency and cannot afford any further ecological degradation

An automatic exemption does not sufficiently protect the rights of Indigenous peoples who are constitutionally entitled to consultation. Also, exemptions should be driven by science. There should not be discretion available to grant an exemption for political expediency. Lire davantage

Do not streamline environmental assessments! Do not streamline our safety! Environmental assessments must be comprehensive. You must take the time to fully assess impacts on biodiversity, public health, Indigenous rights, and the accelerating climate crisis. Lire davantage

I am disappointed in this. It just seems like Ford is trying again to make it easier for industry to win over the environment. The environment is what we need to care about. We have time now to do something about it, save it before our effects become impossible to reverse. Lire davantage

An EA should be mandatory for all new smelters especially if they are located near populated areas. All smelters release hazardous materials into the environment even with the most up-to-date technology.

Smelting plants should be on the list for environmental assessments. Especially ones near sources of water or within cities. Thank you.

Biogas facilities should be listed as subject to an environmental risk assessment . The effects of cumulative emissions of greenhouse and toxic gasses, and pollution from trucks are high from both point and regional sources to both local and regional air . Lire davantage

The proposed list of projects to qualify for a full environmental assessment is incomplete and problematic through its lack of scientific explanation and required reference to the ministry’s Statement of Environmental Values. Lire davantage

Economic growth should not come at the cost of environmental protection and Indigenous rights. All mining projects and major mine-related infrastructure (e.g. smelters, tailings ponds, etc.), especially open-pit mines, should be subject to comprehensive environmental assessment. Lire davantage

I feel that all mines, larger quarries and underground repositories for nuclear waste be subjected to full environmental assessments. Where repository of nuclear waste may be under Federal Jurisdiction, that assessment should be as thorough or exceed provincial assessment. Lire davantage

I do not support the proposed Bill 197, especially the proposed changes to the Environmental Assessment Act. The Ford government is using the pandemic to push through these harmful changes and make it easier for mines and resource projects to go ahead without proper assessments. Lire davantage
