As a Planner working in Ontario, I fully support changes to the Planning Act that will enhance delegation of routine planning approvals and streamline the development approvals process.
As a Registered Professional Planner in the Province of Ontario, I support the delegation of authority proposed. Increased use of delegation powers undoubtedly helps streamline the development approvals process.

I fully support this proposed change. As a consulting planner with positive working relationships in all municipalities I work in, red tape and processing are barriers to mutually agreeable “quick wins” that are necessary to improve the well being of many.

I want to commend the government for taking this step to streamline approval powers for minor land use planning matters relating to removing of a holding symbol or authorizing temporary use of land.

The bill will eliminate or weaken multiple laws protecting the environment. Effectively, there are no measures in this bill that will benefit the environment.

I do not agree that any type of laws that are passed should be delegated to any authority other than those that were voted in by the public. If the individual passing a by-law was not an elected official, they should have no right to pass any laws, no matter how minor they are.

As a planner, I strongly recommend councils delegate authority to pass by-laws that are minor in nature to a committee of council, staff, or an agent of the municipality.
