This proposal does not mention what type of housing would be created on the Greenbelt lands. If this is to address the housing crisis, then will there be requirements to include affordable housing? Higher density housing? Lire davantage

I believe there are other areas and methods (dense housing like condos & apartments instead of simple horizontal expansion) that can and should receive the focus of housing development that must be prioritized before considering touching the greenbelt. Lire davantage

Proposed amendments to the greenbelt plan do not address the core tenets of the Greenbelt Plan (2017). This is particularly evident in the proposed removal of lands in the City of Pickering. Lire davantage

The concept of opening up the greenbelt for further housing development to fuel excessive wasteful urban sprawl is disgusting. You should be ashamed of this proposal. Lire davantage

Please do not pave the Greenbelt with suburban housing. Instead allow for denser European floor style housing apartments (3/4 bedroom) on major arteries throughout the GTA. Suburban sprawl sucks. Large apartment style homes inside of existing city boundaries rock.

Under no circumstances should this be allowed to happen. This is completely ridiculous and simply another ploy to funnel more money to corporations. The PC government PROMISED in 2021 not to touch the green belt and yet somehow here we are. Start developing north of the GTA. Lire davantage

The United Kingdom can fit 60 million people on an Island, and Tokyo can fit the entire population of Canada into one city, but Doug Ford doesn't think we can fit people into Ontario without destroying its greenery. Lire davantage

As a potential future ontarian it concerns me greatly that the province doesn't seem to be caring for the environment around your biggest population center. Keeping wetlands balanced is an important part of sustainable development, and is only becoming more important as climates change. Lire davantage

This is a stupid, shortsighted and slimy move. We will never get this land back if we open it to development. The world is being ravaged by the effects of climate change and more concrete and pavement is not the answer - especially not in our most valuable platform. Lire davantage

The Greenbelt is for protection of species of wildlife and plants. It’s a huge contributor to helping with carbon emissions created by nearby infrastructure. Many wetlands contribute to water quality and volumes. Water doesn’t magically appear in your pipes it’s source is aquifers underground. Lire davantage

This will destroy the ability to grow food for future generations, increase flooding in the gta, ruin wetlands which are known for biodiversity. This is truly so dangerous. The whole point of having the green belt protected is for this exact reason. Lire davantage

It is truly disappointing that other more reasonable avenues are not being discussed or implemented. The green belt is irreplaceable and should not be used for housing. Lire davantage

Do not touch the Greenbelt. It’s part of what makes our Province unique. Green space is precious and quickly disappearing into development. Absolutely opposed to selling even one square inch of this Greenbelt. Leave it protected!!!

What is the point of building housing when there's not even utilities that go with it? Schools? Libraries? Public Transit? Retail spaces? It seems nonsensical to destroy the greenbelt for housing. Lire davantage

Maintain the greenbelt! The plan to develop the greenbelt must not move forward. More than ever conserving the delicate balance of nature and out local wetlands is of utmost imoritance. The golden horseshoe could be a global model for housing and conservation if we chose to be. Lire davantage
