Our ecosystem is delicate, and these changes will damage it in ways that you are not anticipating. This will be bad for everyone, including, eventually, you. Listen to the scientists and scholars who are telling you this is a bad idea. Lire davantage

The Government of Ontario argues that the current ESA is "complicated, takes too long to complete, and causes unnecessary delays and costs for housing, transit, and critical infrastructure". Lire davantage

Bill 5 is concerningly similar to the highhanded way in which President Trump tramples on environmental protection and democratic frameworks so that corporations can profit at the expense of everyday people. Lire davantage

In Ontario, one of the primary causes of species decline is habitat destruction, which results in the loss of food sources, shelter, and breeding grounds for wildlife. This ongoing destruction is often the result of unchecked development, driven by a “development at any cost” mindset. Lire davantage

- I do not support changing the Endangered Species Act or replacing it. - The "habitat" definition in the Endangered Species Act needs more clarification, not a reduced scope. Lire davantage

It seems to me that Bill 5 erodes decades of hard-won protections for species and habitats in the name of so-called 'efficiency'. Lire davantage

I oppose bill 5 since it actively seeks to set our wildlife protections back. at a time when we should be strengthening them, not regressing them.

It is unconscionable to eliminate the Endangered Species Act. The people of Ontario expect the government to protect endangered species and to protect the environment that helps to preserve all our Ontarios biodiversity. Lire davantage

I opposed the repeal of the Endangered Species Act 2007. Habitat for species depends upon an interlinked system of various environmental qualities that the species has managed to adapt to for its home, its food and its reproductive stability. Lire davantage

I strongly oppose Bill 5. It will jeopardize local communities and environments they live in. I oppose shortcuts for industry. I want strong environmental protections and meaningful indigenous consultation. Lire davantage

The proposed changes to legislation and regulations would take some time to draft and implement, causing unnecessary delays to housing, transit, and critical infrastructure projects. This proposal only creates additional administrative delays. Lire davantage

This is a dangerous revision of current species protections. Removal of the term 'harass' allows ambiguous activities to proceed. The habitat definition is too narrow and would eliminate things like contaminating ground water nearby. Lire davantage

Although obtaining permits can be a lengthy process, they are that way for a reason. Removing the need for the ministry to approve permits removes all necessary truth finding in proposed building areas. Lire davantage

Bill 5 will allow developers to decimate habitat without sufficient oversight. I vehemently oppose Bill 5 for the sake of the environment of the Province of Ontario and all who inhabit it now and in the future. Lire davantage

The proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act are disgusting and cruel. The interconnectivity of species to their habitats and our own is clearly not respected or understood by the current provincial government. Lire davantage

I am writing as a concerned Ontario resident who values our provinces biodiversity. Bill 5 threatens to weaken protections for species at risk and their habitats – protections that have been established through decades of scientific research and conservation efforts. Lire davantage

The proposed changes to/elimination of the Endangered Species Act raises many concerns. The province was already “failing its mandate to protect species at risk” according to a 2021 report by our provincial Auditor-General. Lire davantage
