This proposal is flawed. Why is it called the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025 why n precisely its aim is to remove protections? This government has proposed a bad thing and is trying to make it look less bad by giving it a good name. This proposal should NOT move forward. Lire davantage

Please protect Canada and all its inhabitants! Endangered species are part of our ecosystem. Let them be and be part of Canada. Let them thrive and survive. Help preserve them and build a stronger ecosystem. They in term help us. Lire davantage

So they want to just strip the species at risk act and bypass indigenous consultation -- just so they can fast track projects up north in the 'Ring of Fire' area so that Dougie can make lots of money for all his Corp business friends ? Lire davantage

Please scrap Bill 5 in relation to the parts that weaken environmental protection for endangered species, habitat, migratory birds etc. Such matters need more protection not less. A healthy economy needs a healthy natural environment. Lire davantage

Bill 5 should not be considered for Ontario or any province. Giving power to the Premier's office to override any Environmental Acts or Endangered Species Acts is a gross misuse of authority and is granting self-serving power to the Premier. Lire davantage

What is the benefit of doing this? Any project, private or public should be subject to public notice and commenting, especially when the project has no real value to the community (whereas extending GO train service does) but is meant as a recreational activity. Lire davantage

No exemptions should be given for the Ontario Place redevelopment. This is an unpopular development and the public, especially residents of Toronto should be as informed as possible as to the possible environmental consequences that we will have to live with. Lire davantage

Proposed Bill 5, "Protecting Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act," is not just a misleading title, it’s a calculated smokescreen, in fact, the devil’s in the detail. Lire davantage

I will use this opportunity to echo comments from the group, Ontario Place for All, in regards to the provincial government's proposal. "This will completely eliminate public participation...the government is using an economic competitiveness bill to should a private megaspa." Lire davantage

As an independent member of the community - no ties to archaeology, an immigrant and thankful for the protection of indigenous history thus far, I am appalled with the proposed changes to the legislation. Lire davantage

The entire Therme Deal and the removal of environmental protections in order to facilitate it stink badly of backroom deals, favours to insiders and rerouted sewage. Surma and Ford know their plan is an unwanted waste of tax dollars. Lire davantage

Absolutely not. This is an absurd proposal as there is already so much questionable about this redevelopment for Therme. The project should be cancelled as this in no way economic growth will come from this and we will largely see a decrepit facility in no time that is harming our waterfront. Lire davantage

I do not support this proposal. As a life-long conservative, this proposal and Ford’s economically ruinous Ontario Place projects have turned me against the party. Public consultation and environmental protection are common sense elements of public policy. Lire davantage

I don’t support this act. The environment must be protected and decisions must be made with proper consultations with experts of respective subject areas as well as the people of Ontario. Ontario Place and other areas of Ontario should never be exempt from the Environmental Bill of Rights. Lire davantage

This proposal is frankly ridiculous. If the Government of Ontario considers the requirements of the Environmental Bill Of Rights to be too onerous, then the appropriate response is to permanently amend the legislation, not to grant exemptions on a project-by-project basis.
