Bill 60 is a deeply troubling piece of legislation that strips Ontario’s cities of their ability to make local, evidence-based decisions about their own streets. Lire davantage

Please stop and think about the premise of this bill—that preventing motor vehicle lanes from being repurposed will have a negative impact on people commuting via car/SUV/etc. Lire davantage

I am extremely opposed and disappointed by the proposed Bill 60 - Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025 – Modern Transportation – Prohibiting Vehicle Lane Reduction for New Bicycle Lanes. Lire davantage

This bill is another infringement on a cities ability to do what people who actually live in the city think is best for the city. Lire davantage

I live in downtown Toronto. I ride a bicycle everywhere as I do not own a car. This proposal is a terrible one. As is well documented, building more roads does not reduce congestion; more drivers simply fill the new capacity. Lire davantage

It strips cities of local authority and decision-making, even when projects are supported by evidence and local residents. It will worsen traffic congestion, not reduce it. The government’s ownexperts have consistently said that bike lanes are not a cause of gridlock. Lire davantage

Bill 60 would essentially act as a ban on new bike lanes across the province if they remove a lane of vehicle traffic. Lire davantage

We should be encouraging bike lanes anywhere we can. We need to reduce emissions and also encourage fit citizens. Making the car even more dominant with policies like the one this Ford Government is proposing is the absolutely wrong direction to go.

I oppose Bill 60. It removes local decision-making and allows the Province to block any reallocation of road space — not only bike lanes, but bus lanes, safe crossings, patios, curb access, and school streets. This undermines evidence-based planning and will increase congestion, not reduce it. Lire davantage

We need more bike lanes in Ontario. There's nothing that makes me happier than riding my bicycle to downtown Toronto destinations because I get there fast and don't need to find parking. Cars do not benefit the environment or the economy. Bikes do. Lire davantage

Evidence shows that adding lanes of car traffic only work temporarily. Induced demand from additional lanes result in more people driving (and contaminating the environment) due to the perception that traffic has improved. Studies show that traffic does not improve in the long term. Lire davantage

Bill 212 failed because the Ontario government ignored the proven facts about how traffic congestion is NOT reduced by reducing bike lanes. Separated bike lanes promote active transportation and also save lives. Lire davantage

Cycling keeps me in good condition and its a very direct way to get around plus its easy to park and a lot less expensive than a car and does not cause pollution

There simply isn't any compelling evidence that stopping cities from constructing bike lanes will improve congestion. People who use them can leave their car at home, reducing the number of vehicles on the road. Lire davantage
