Hunters should not have points taken if tag isn't claimed on 1st or 2nd draw. If a group of 6 apply and are all successfull 1st round, 5 should not loose all thier points. 1st and 2nd should remain the same, issue needing attention is allocation of unclaimed tags. After 2nd draw. Lire davantage

This is a great idea, eliminating the opportunity for ppl to not claim tags cause they didn’t get what they wanted regardless of points. Further more I’m all for residents of a WMU being able to enter a last chances draw or purchase for any left over tags. Lire davantage

The date for which Ontario rolls out tags does not in anyway align with other practices currently used in the USA. We need to look at how some of the states manage their tag allocation dates and deadlines. Their wildlife management is miles over Ontario. Lire davantage

This sounds like a great step in the process for an otherwise very disappointing system. Never more than now after many years of hunting moose has it seemed like the moose system is broken and poorly managed. Lire davantage

Although this new proposal is better for individual moose hunters, it further complicates the dynamic of groups trying to navigate the system whereby they get one tag (and only one is warranted),w/o sacrificing the points of 2or more individuals in the group! Lire davantage

We definitely need to move forward on the unclaimed tags but taking someone’s points because they haven’t claimed there tag isn’t right. All tags awarded in second allocation should have a deadline to be claimed just like the first allocation. Then the unclaimed tags become available on a hotline like Lire davantage

I think the "last chance allocation" will solve the problem in itself. Penalizing a hunter for not accepting a tag is unfair.....for example if there are three hunters going together and they are all on the cusp of enough point for a tag, all apply hoping one gets a tag. Lire davantage

As residents of the better hunting, remote WMUs (in my case 21A) we should be afforded more opportunities to hunt regardless of this points based system. A specific, large amount of tags should be set aside for the residents of each WMU to be purchased (say 70% of that WMU allocation). Lire davantage

seems a bit overcompensating for long time hunters with large point count and still not able to draw an adult tag ? why not set a final date to claim then open sales for the last unclaimed tags? Lire davantage

I think change is overdue. I have 2 scenarios that are problematic. One we are encountering and one potential on the current system. Lire davantage

So if I’m party hunting. Get two tags in round 2 am I forced to take two tags when I would have only taken one? Hurts moose population overall.

On the way to save the moose you have wiped out the moose hunters New or elderly won’t wait twenty years for a tag If there extra tags a random draw should be made What new Hunter will wait twenty years Refer to zone 50 I myself haven’t hunted moose for five years No tags for a group of 13

I support the changes as proposed, however as an older hunter, I believe there should be some additional consideration and criteria built into the points accumulation process for hunters over the age of 65 who have hunted all their lives but have less time to accumulate points for “high-demand” tags Lire davantage

To begin with, as a hunter, it is frustrating dealing with constant changes. I’d rather we just stick with the system we have. Second of all, essentially being forced to claim a tag drawn (for fear of losing precious points anyways), seems extreme. Lire davantage
