I agree with some of these proposed changes. Don’t change the first and 2nd draws, except results should be made available quicker and maybe shorted the time you have to claim your tag in each draw. There’s no need to wait 6 weeks between application deadline and results. Lire davantage

I don't feel that "Any hunter awarded a tag based on their first choice in the ‘second chance allocation’ will forfeit their points, whether or not they decide to claim the tag" is fair or necessary when you are forced to claim the tag by a deadline now. Lire davantage

Proposed change #1 is not fair to lose points. Forcing the deadline and having the last chance option will make sure hunters have a chance at all tags. Lire davantage

Doesn't not claiming a tag awarded in the second allocation, first choice mean that it's less moose being harvested! I suppose it would leave more moose for the native population to harvest and not report. Lire davantage

New Idea sound good but the point system has made a lot of older hunters stop moose hunting in our area. I just turned 55 and have yet to hunt moose with my two son's and based on our points within our camp I may never get to hunt moose with them before my time is up. Lire davantage

Allow a transfer of a tag to an alternate person for legitimate supported reasons. E.g. health reasons, employment changes, family emergencies, death, unable to travel due to government restrictions I.e. Covid. Any transfer would still result in loss of points to the original successful applicant. Lire davantage

I group hunt with 11 to 13 hunters and we were unable to hunt moose for 3 seasons in a row with the new point based system. It is very frustrating since we own 300 acres of property and had a new hunt camp built just prior to the change. We lost several hunters because of this. Lire davantage

I am retired. That being said I don't agree with loosing your points if you don't claim your tag. You have to put in for a tag and can't book time off at work till you know if you've been drawn. If your employer can't give you time off for some reason you loose your points. Lire davantage

One problem I see with the proposal is if nobody from my group is allocated a tag in the first draw. How do we apply in the second draw and avoid getting two tags and two members loosing there points.

The points-based tag allocation system has a number of major flaws for residents of Northern Ontario. In terms of this new second chance allocation changes that are proposed, I suggest that instead of the proposed idea, any unclaimed tags should go to the outfitters based on shares. Lire davantage

Great idea. Really like the "Last Chance Draw" as well. So many tags go unclaimed which means lots of groups don't get to hunt. This should help. Lire davantage

I personally think the point system does not work like the prior system. I know of hunters that receive tags yearly and others go without a tag for years. Based on the point system we could wait for years before getting an adult tag. I prefer the way it was before. Lire davantage
