Claims that bike lanes have increased response times for emergency services are unfounded and have been refuted by emergency services personnel, who would know of any negative impact first-hand. Lire davantage

This is the wrong move for the government to take. Not only does it compromise the safety of cyclists and discourage bicycle use, there is no evidence that it would reduce gridlock. Lire davantage

We need more bike lanes, not less! My family and I drive and bike and want more safe options for getting around, especially for cyclists! More lanes means no cars, it’s been proven time and time again!

From the perspective of both a driver and biker, I've never felt safer on the roads than on those WITH bike lanes. It removes the extra worry of someone's mother, father, brother, sister, friend, or anyone in my blind spot accidentally getting their lives changed on my commute home. Lire davantage

This policy is extremely shortsited and ineffective. Studies have shown that providing an extra lane simply encourages more people to drive there an with in a year tha lanes are as congested as ever! Lire davantage

Won't getting rid of the bike lanes just push cyclists onto the road, causing even more gridlock and cyclist deaths? And won't ripping up the bike lanes just cause even more construction, only for the next government to reverse the decision and put them back again? Lire davantage

I am vehemently opposed to the ironically-named 'Reducing Gridlock, Saving you Time Act'. Regarding bike lanes, all the data show that bike lanes: 1. save lives 2. reduce congestion 3. are good for the businesses along the route 4. SAVE LIVES!!!!! Added for emphasis Lire davantage

If this government were serious about “reducing gridlock,” it would be making investments to the tune of several billion dollars to prioritize development and construction of extensive transit projects all over the province, and would invest considerable time, money and effort into the construction Lire davantage

I have been driving on Bloor Street regularly for many years, long before the bike lanes were installed, both to take my daughters to school and drive to work. As a driver, I absolutely dread the idea of the bike lanes being removed. Lire davantage

I feel that Bill 212 revolves around a nonissue and does not solve the issue of traffic at hand in the Greater Toronto Area. There are many that rely on those bike lanes and choose to bike to their job over driving. Lire davantage

I oppose the proposed changes that would restrict the autonomy of municipalities in implementing bike lanes and prioritize highway expansion as the primary solution to traffic issues. Lire davantage

As one of thousands of Torontonians who use the Bloor and University bike lanes daily, I implore you to stop this bill. I need bike lanes to live, work and play safely. If they disappear, I will be forced to risk my life in traffic every day just to get to work. Lire davantage

Cycling as a mode of transport should be promoted by all levels of government because compared to motorized modes of transport, it contributes less to climate change and pollution and improves health. I would like to see more bike lanes to encourage more trips by bike. Lire davantage

Fully oppose this. Trying to sneak in an unnecessary highway and remove bike lanes that are heavily utilized and have not removed any lanes of traffic? Lire davantage

The first point that I would like to make is that the municipality's needs should take precedence over the province's desires, as those living in the municipality are the ones who are affected. Lire davantage

Regarding requiring provincial approval for bike lanes, the province should stay out of municipal planning. There are many cities in the world that have more sustainable transportation systems where bike lanes are an important part of it. Lire davantage

This act is a fallacy, not substantiated with valid data. This act will not, reduce traffic congestion or grid lock. In fact, true data reflects it could increase vehicular traffic, and therefore enhance traffic congestion. Lire davantage

Approving/removing bike lanes seems like a no brainer to help traffic flow, which is obviously a huge issue right now. However, taking away reasons for people to give up their cars is not the answer because: Lire davantage

Bike lanes are installed with rigorous assessments from city staff. Street widths, traffic volumes, demand, density, and many other factors are considered in this process. Public consultations are made and designs are adjusted to fit stakeholders' needs. Lire davantage
