This will invariably lead to development decimating habitats needed for endangered species and put many more at risk. Demolish first, ask questions later. No. There is enough land available for redevelopment NOW before new land needs to be demolished. Read more

This is not only about individual species, but the habitats they represent. Species at Risk are akin to the canary in the coal mine, and a decline in these species is indicative of a reduction in habitat diversity and quality! Read more

Dear Premier Ford, We are in a global biodiversity crisis and in Ontario alone we have more than 230 plants and animals are at risk. The healthy forests, waters and wetlands species at risk rely on sustain all Ontarians. I urge your government to: Read more

It is clear that this proposal does not seek to maintain the balance it claims to; rather, it seeks to gut the Endangered Species Act. This is an affront to the land we live on and Indigenous land rights. Read more

This proposed legislation needs to be reconsidered and revised. Allowing developers to carry on with their projects following mere registration creates an inherently flawed system. Read more

The government should not be able to remove species from the at risk list as it may have financial incentive to do so. The narrowing if the definition of habitat puts animals in danger. We cannot encroach on their territory and expect them to not be negatively impacted. Read more

This “Protect Ontario” bill is like calling arson a home renovation. The Ontario government is gutting the Endangered Species Act so Ford’s developer cronies can pave ecosystems without even checking if anything lives there — then call it growth. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed changes to protection for endangered species in Ontario. Habitat cannot be preserved piecemeal: simply preserving a nest site but not the rest of the habitat will not allow the species to survive. Read more

Do not make it easier for builders to destroy fragile ecosystems that already house so many at risk/endangered ontario species. We should be doing more to protect ecosystems, not destroy them for profit. Ontario deserves better.

I oppose this bill because of the devastating effects it will have on the environment and endangered species. It also ignores indigenous rights. I do not believe it will benefit anyone besides developers.

The endangered species act is a key piece of conservation legislation and should not be modified or removed. It provides the necessary level of protection to ensure environmental responsibility is balanced with the need for development.
