I do not support Bill 17 as it eliminate cities’ ability to protect health, safety, and the environment by “clarifying” that municipalities do not have jurisdiction to determine their own best course of action, for example, by setting green development standards. Read more

Wind, shadow and sun studies are needed. Buildings can cause harsh and dangerous conditions around the building and for pedestrians. Lighting is important for safety and those with visual impairments. There multiple studies showing the impact of wind, sun, shadow and impacts of lighting. Read more

"The Toronto Green Standard mandates stormwater retention features to reduce flood risk during heavy rainfall..." The Standard does not negatively affect proposed new housing initiatives in any way. Please do not block this world class municipal bylaw.

I agree with the proposed elimination of sun/shadow, wind, urban design, and lighting studies. These tend to be highly generic and add no value to the project. For similar reasons, I also suggest eliminating noise studies for all uses except industrial sites. Read more
