My understanding is that this land plays a vital role in protecting Wasaga Beach from flooding. Why does this need to be sacrificed to increase tourism in an area that already has record-breaking tourism numbers?

Thank you for taking comments. Please preserve Provincial Parks, especially Wasaga Provincial Park. This habitat is important for many species. We need to grow our parks for the enjoyment of our growing population. Nature has a calming effect on humans. Health benefits have also been reported Read more

Please do not remove any portions of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park and do not sell it to any other parties. Many people enjoy visiting these protected parks. Read more

I fear that this will set a precedent that other developers will use in the future to expand onto provincial parks.

The land in question here includes critical nesting habitat for the Piping Plover, which could be lost forever if this goes through. Ontario should be protecting our natural resources, not selling them off. Read more

This government will stop at nothing to destroy any and all natural landmarks in pursuit of a quick dollar. They’ve been found doing shady dealings when it comes to Ontario place and the science centre already. Read more

Removing protected provincial parks is the last thing we need. Public access to beaches and parks should be a priority, not selling off land to developers for profit. Read more

The Wasaga Beach Provincial Park beach areas need to remain intact and undeveloped. This is important nesting habitat for the endangered Piping Plover - one of only a few areas in the province where this significant rare species is known to nest. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed legislative amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006, that would remove Beach Areas 1, 2, New Wasaga, and Allenwood Beach from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park and facilitate the sale of these Crown lands to the Town of Wasaga Beach. Opposed. Wasaga Beach is an accessible, family-friendly beach for families from across the GTA to come out and enjoy. It should not be sold off to private interests. And, frankly, to what benefit to Ontarians? Provincial parks exist for more than just the interest of a single nearby town. Read more

This would be the beginning of the end for provincial parks as not enough of them are in existence to start with now you’re going to destroy them all with this legislation! Give your hands a shake!! I am furious to see wetlands, and now provincial parks handed over to developers! Read more

How dare you! This is not your land to sell. No one wants this. Just another cash grab from a failing system with a two-faced corperate puppet in charge. Stop this. This goes against the bi-national great lakes agreement mandate.

Selling the land only for it to be replaced with parking lots and apartments absolutely destroys the environment around it and the residents who live there. Continuing on a path of privatization of public land and destroying the environment amid a worsening climate is both sickening and tiring. Read more

I really think Doug Ford removing Wasaga beach provincial park space is a terrible idea. I wanna know who is giving him money so they can build developments there. No more removing parks for houses/ mansions!!! Read more

Please do not sell the Crown lands of Wasaga Beach! If they need to be revitalized then use tax dollars to invest in them. Wasaga beach is a national treasure and should remain government owned. Read more

The Wasaga Beaches belong to the people of Ontario. It is the largest crash water beach in the world and should never be removed from the provincial park. This is a very bad idea and will not go over well with voters in all of Ontario.

As a long time beachfront owner I have read recent negative perspectives on this matter from groups with head offices long distances from Wasaga Beach, such as the special interest group Environmental Defence. Read more

I do not support this destructive decision. Parks and beaches should be for people and not privatized for economic gains. Keep Wasaga beach public and for the people! Read more
