I’m writing to express my opposition to the proposed sale and development of public land at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. I believe that this land is better stewarded for the public. This proposed sale and development is not in the public interest. Read more

Protecting parkland is essential especially with growing population which has already reduced land. As a taxpayer I strongly believe that we need to retain places like those at Wasaga Beach for public use. Read more

Provincial parks are meant to be kept natural and safe from urban human activity. By developing this protected land, we are putting more at risk than creating good. We need to keep as much of the environment natural, and also keep our word when we say we are protecting places. Read more

It is with great sadness and anger that I write this comment regarding thr potential sale of Ontario Park land. I am blessed to have access to a recreational property but the vast majority of Ontario residents do not have the financial means to do this. Read more

We need to better protect our waterfront and natural areas in Ontario. Prioritizing tourism over protecting Wasaga Beach is a massive risk with potentially irreversible consequences. I am strongly opposed to the sale of the Crown Land in Wasaga Beach. Development can happen elsewhere in Wasaga.

Privatizing beaches doesn't seem to align with the Ford government's stance on not selling Canada. Super disappointed with this lapse of judgement. Tourists like going to provincial parks and the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park attracts approximately 1.5 million tourists every year. Read more

I am opposed to the amendments for removing pieces of Wasaga Beach from the provincial park. I'm worried this action will open the door for similar actions in other provincial parks. These parks need to be protected. Ontario's natural heritage needs to be protected. Read more

How about not selling park lands? It’s so transparent that it’s to benefit people who donated to the government.

As a member of the community of Wasaga Beach I strongly and passionately disagree with the proposal to sell 60 percent of our beaches to private owners. I grew up here raised by the beauty in our environment. I did an SHSM in environmental science in highschool and learned of our parks. Read more

I strongly oppose transferring a portion of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park to the Town to allow for increased tourism development. Provincial Parks are supposed to be for public enjoyment and environmental protection. Read more

I do not support this proposal because I am concerned that it will harm sensitive non-renewable sand-dune ecosystems and habitat, destroy provincially significant wetlands, further threaten species at risk like the piping plover, detract from local and provincial climate change adaptation capacity a Read more

Provincial parks and public lands belong to the people of the province; to preserve, enjoy and pass on to future generations. How dare this government consider selling lands in an iconic town, for profit and over-tourism. This land must stay in the hands of the public. Do better. Signed, Read more

I am opposed to the proposed changes. The beach is important habitat for the endangered piping plover. Once it is modified and developed, this important habitat will be lost, negatively impacting piping plover populations. Other wildlife that utilize the environment will be impacted as well. I was alarmed when I read this proposal! Our green spaces and provincial parks should and must not be interfered with by the government’s whim. Form a mental health point of view the parks and quiet green spaces provide solitude. Read more
