As a resident who has lost family members due to vehicular crashes while cycling, it is absolutely heartbreaking and outraging to see steps taken to make roads statistically-proven to be more dangerous and deadly.
Research on induced demand makes it very clear that having more lanes of traffic creates more car traffic. If we cannot add safe infrastructure then cyclists who could be in protected bike lanes will instead be taking up an entire lane of the road and slowing car traffic.

We need our bicycle lanes, bus lanes, streetcar lanes. They are the major transportation method used by the majority of the city. If you take them away, you will not only increase subway rush hour, and pollution, but you will also take away from the people their first resource of transportation.

Municipalities should make determinations about changing motor vehicle lanes when installing, implementing or marking new bicycle lanes, not the province.
