The model being proposed is short sighted and has been tried with the regional government model. Several of these have been scraped and returned to the original model. Let’s not repeat history and please learn from the past. Leave the conservation authorities alone. Read more

It is very disappointing to see the provincial government's plan to consolidate Ontario's Conservation Authorities into Regional Conservation Authorities. While it is said that "nothing will change," much will be lost if this plan goes through. Read more

We have serious concerns about the government’s proposal to merge Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into just 7 larger bodies. We believe it will undermine local watershed management, weaken flood protection, and reduce accountability to communities. Read more

I am against the consolidation of Ontario’s conservation authorities. We must keep conservation local, with local staff who understand the water, land and challenges. I reside in the proposed Lake Erie Regional Conservation Authority, which is much too large to remain responsive and effective. Read more

I believe this will only create more hurdles for anything to be done. The current system works fine. Why create upheaval, more paperwork and waste, when it is not needed. There's so much more needs this province has, please give those, this attention.

Locally based decision-making and accountability is important for Conservation! The reason for this amalgamation has not been justified. The HCA is one of the Hamilton City Depts with a positive track record of responsiveness and success. Read more

Conservation authorities were founded to manage watersheds. By their very nature they require localized management and involvement. Lumping them into 7 large conservation authorities removes the local management and erodes local engagement. Read more

I personally oppose the amalgamation. Dundas needs local oversight of its trails and conservation areas. We have so many visitors that are coming in from Toronto on the surrounding areas before long our natural resources will be overridden by tourism.
