Conservation Authorities exist to manage natural systems based on watersheds, not political boundaries. Water, flooding, erosion, and environmental impacts follow rivers and landscapes, not municipal lines. Read more

This proposal will not help Ontario. It will not benefit future generations. It is a rushed way to help Ford develop more with less permissions. Communities will not only lose power with decisions, but also have less support with questions that are region specific. Read more

As a resident of a rural township, rural representation matters to me. Basing conservation decisions on political boundaries and not watershed-based science makes no sense. I support keeping my local conservation authority as is for this, and a variety of other reasons. Read more

Locally based decision-making and accountability is important for Conservation! The reason for this amalgamation has not been justified. The HCA is one of the Hamilton City Depts with a positive track record of responsiveness and success. Read more

I live across the road from a Conservation Area along the South Nation river, part of which was a donation to the South Nation Conservation Authority. I am not an expert and don't truly understand the report or the implications of it. Read more

I oppose the amalgamation of the Mattagami regional conservation area with Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and North bay. Due to the Mattagami river floods of the pass especially in the 1950’s where lives were claimed, they are essential here and understand our community and environment. Read more

Local based authority and decision making is super important for proper conservation. We love our trails and they must be kept. The “reason” for amalgamation is not justified. It is another cutback that is threatening our wildlife and natural heritage.

This is just another attempt by Ford & the conservative government to dilute environmental protections & allow their corporate buddies to develop land that was protected by individual Conservation Authorities! First the gutting of the environmental species protection act, then Bill 5 & now this!!! Read more

Terrible idea to amalgamate. Conservation authorities are run by individuals who know these unique areas best. Microclimates and species can differ widely across areas and so it is best to have tailored monitoring by each individual conservation authority, not a blanket watch. Read more
