I feel like centralizing environmental protection is a bad idea. Bigger agencies have less information about the specific, contextual needs of various watersheds and eco systems. Smaller, localized conservation authorities have better insight into the needs of the communities they serve.

I am in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario and I am strongly opposed to any amalgamation of conservation authorities across Ontario. Northern Ontario’s a huge geographical area and it’s too vast to be served by a single conservation authority.

As a resident of O’Connor am OPPOSED to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”.

Key Factors - Local mayors / designates often sit on conservation Boards. They are not going to be pleased to have this form of local authority and control removed from them in favour of the center, and their municipal boards will back the to the hilt.

I am against this! Leave our preservations alone! Why is the government not focusing on health care, homelessness and affordable housing. I am no longer proud to be Canadian and it's my governments actions causing me to feel this way! Do better.
I agree with HCA’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned about losing local decision-making and I support keeping conservation decisions rooted in our community.
It is my understanding that :
- Amalgamation will not speed up development approvals. It may have the opposite effect as existing workflows will be disrupted
