I think the local matters and does things certain ways that are applicable to the local that may not be understood if consolidated I think they should stay they way they are but me be managed and invested in more.

Ontario’s conservation authorities succeed because they are rooted in their watersheds and governed by local municipalities who understand local conditions, hazards, and community needs. The current watershed-based model ensures decisions are informed by decades of on‑the‑ground knowledge.

This is all about the bottom line and how can save money and make more profit. This is not about the nature preserve and conservation. This can only be a future disaster for conservation areas if this amalgamation is approved!
Decisions should be made by each region for their own region. The new proposed boundaries places people who highly conflicting desires, and massive population centres together.

The Hamilton Conservation Authority should remain independent. We have acres of land extremely well managed by our area independently. You’ll destroy it with amalgamation with Ontario CA.
My concern is that the proposal is focused on governance organization as the priority taking us further away from the actual work of the Conservation Authority.

The consolidation of conservation authorities is a direct attack on environmental protections and severely limits the ability of CAs to have local authority and expertise of their jurisdiction. Each CA has an in depth knowledge of their local ecosystems, hazards, and the species.

Integrating 36 conservation areas into 7 will affect the governance within each of the 36 areas because managing a much larger region will tend to neglect the communities within the 36 areas, creating difficulties in addressing individual area goals and it will create difficult financial management

I live in Trent Hills, Ontario. I do not support this proposal. There are other means to achieve efficiencies without removing local representation and access.
