This is a process to remove local control of development and conservation. It will destroy decades of work these authorities have fought for and will only lead to a significant decrease in their powers and abilities. Read more

Please do not combine the conservation authorities. Combining them will put our communities at greater risk of flooding, and our forests, watersheds and animals at an even greater risk of suffering and loss. Read more

I am against the proposed merger of Ontario's Conservation Authorities. Local knowledge and decision making is critical. The Conservative government will never win my vote with proposals such as this one. Read more

I feel very strongly that this amalgamation should not happen. Every single conservation authority knows the area they cover. Each small part of this province is delicate and important based on variables that may not apply to the next area. It should not be managed based on larger areas. Read more

Conservation needs to remain in the hands of local people who understand the area and needs. Each are is different and demands unique experience. Putting many districts together makes for a one size fits all approach that is not in the best interests of local conservation. Read more

NO. Leave the local population to determine how to manage their conservation areas. There is no need for persons not even aware of what we have (or have not) that they get to choose what we need/want. That is for us to determine. Read more

I am against the proposed amalgamation of Conservation Authorities. I believe that it is not in the best interests of the environment to take away local authority. Furthermore from my research it seems it is not necessary to make this change for financial, efficiency or governance reasons. Read more

As a resident of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, I request that the Province prioritize local representation, local operational control, and protection of northern community interests before moving forward with any restructuring of the conservation authority system. Read more

I agree 100 % with Hamilton Conservation Authority's (HCA's) submission to the ERO. The HCA already provides excellent, effective and reliable service. There seems little evidence for why the proposed merger is needed.
