The proposals main goal should be reduction of duplicate services as well as the reduction in operating costs. Raisin River Conservation Authority is heavily overstaffed and the burden of these opertating costs is directly passed on to the tax payer.

I do not agree with the amalgamation that is proposed. Why is this being done? Each of the areas should be able to concentrate on the issues in their region, instead of an amalgamated approach. This just sounds like politics wrapped in this is good for you. Read more

Consolidating Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into 7 regional authorities to be overseen by the new Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency WILL significantly impact how local watershed programs, services, and decision-making are delivered across my community. Read more

Management You can’t manage what you don’t monitor and this must be a mandate of a CA. Flood Plane Mapping In the lowland areas CA’s should use 2-D modelling as 1-D does not take in to account spillages Maintenance Read more

The proposed changes to the conservation authority (CA) boundaries will negatively impact the environment, wildlife, and ultimately the public. This proposal lacks consideration for what’s actually best for the CA’s and will cause a decline in their ability to provide necessary services. Read more

I strongly oppose the plan to amalgamate the conservation authorities into just seven. Our conservation authority provides valuable local jobs, understands our trails and green spaces and their needs, and holds many unique community events that focus on education and engagement. Read more

I am opposed to the consolidation of the conservation authorities. As a resident of the Grand River CA, I find it very useful for the continued examination and management of our watershed, which is increasingly threatened by development. Read more

I do not support the amalgamation of the Conservation Authorities. I do not believe that this government has adequately consulted with the Conservation Authorities and has limited awareness of the costs involved. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed amalgamation of Ontario conservation authorities which currently protect our environment, ensure clean water with management and decisions in the best interest of local residents and defend the rights of municipalities from provincial policies. Read more

Amalgamating the conservation authorities is going to weaken the watershed protections. The region’s being proposed are massive and any unique knowledge of the area is going to be lost. This is going to seriously harm the environmental protections and I strongly oppose it.
