This is a very bad idea. The consolidation is far to large and will only result in poorer service to all Ontarians who need access a conservation area. Please reconsider this change for the good of our province and the environment.

As a cottager in Rideau Lakes, I am vehemently opposed to this change in the Conservation Authorities. We need the smaller entities to have better oversight on projects that impact our lakes and watersheds. Read more

There is no need to make changes. The conservation authorities have done an excellent job and their work is critical to controlling water and offering recreational opportunities. Leave decision making changes to local authorities that know the issues.

Even within one conservation authority (eg Hamilton) there are so many different ecosystems and specific regional challenges to be addressed to protect the health of the watershed. Read more

The decision to pass the act without public consultation first on the concept demonstrates and shakes confidence that this is going ahead regardless. The promise of no job loss was exactly like the MNR re-organization where families were uprooted and dedicated staff were left stranded. Read more

I want the smaller conservation authorities left in place because local knowledge is vital for protection of the environment. I have to wonder why this is being done, and who is pushing for this change. Read more

As a member if the Thames-Syndenham Source Protection Committee. I feel like amalgamation proposed will form a top down approach instead of the current bottom up approach where each authority can deal with problems within their own watershed. Read more

My main concern, among many, is reduced accountability from the Regional Conservation Authority to local municipalities. For over 80 years, Conservation Authorities have operated on a local watershed-based model because water and ecosystems do not follow municipal boundaries. Read more

With the rising environmental issues and climate crisis, we need more manpower and resources to work on climate adaptation, natural resources management and biodiversity conservation, rather than less! Read more
