This proposal should not occur. The regional consolidation of Ontario's conservation authorities should not occur. I used to work for two different conservation authorities so I have knowledge of how they work. Read more

I adamantly oppose the proposed restructuring of Ontario’s conservation authorities, and urge our provincial government to instead work with the existing 36 conservation authorities to create better alignment and consistency between them. Read more

Ontario's conservation authority system is a proven conservation/environmental success story in my view. Accordingly, I agree with the conservation authorities, municipalities and reputable conservation/environmental organizations which are opposed to the proposed regional consolidation. Read more

I am struggling to understand the logic behind combining the Lakehead region conservation authority with 72 communities in Southern Ontario. You do understand how far away our area is from the authorities in the south? Take a drive northwest along Lake Superior to fully understand the vastness. Read more

And so this governments constant attack on the people and resources of this great province continue. From underfunding education and healthcare, to selling off public resources to private entities, when will the downgrading of Ontario's wealth stop? Read more

Centralization only works to reduce services and protection of these conservation areas. Ontarians deserve better. A regional office will not have the place-based expertise needed to care for these areas. Read more

I am absolutely disgusted by this proposal. Robust conservation areas are a point of pride for our province. They give people a place to get outside, be that to hike or ski or take their family to the beach. Affordable outdoor activities are integral for a happy, healthy, functioning society. Read more

I do not support these changes to conservation authorities. By having a smaller number of conservation authorities covering larger areas our ecosystems will suffer. Keep the existing conservation authorities as they are.

I am not in favour of this. Our conservation authorities do great work. They need to be on the ground in the field. These lands are so valuable and need attention and oversight. Please do not do this. Read more

Strongly against this proposal! We need local representatives that can better identify and respond to localized issues. Amalgamation and closing of offices will result in less effective management and service delivery. Another poor proposal from the Ford government

Do not amalgamate the conservation authorities. Keeping the 36 regional authorities allows people to feel more connected to how the ecosystems are managed. They also do a better job at understanding the microclimates that make each ecosystem unique. Read more

Hey! This is a really bad idea! Killarney is very different from Claireville! I don’t know why this is even being proposed. This will inhibit local authorities from effectively coordinating volunteer work and general maintenance. Please don’t do this.
