Proper protection and management of our watersheds, and the nature they support, depends on science-based decision-making fueled by an intimate knowledge of both the local ecology and community. For nearly 80 years, Conservation Authorities have delivered watershed-based services in partnership with Ontario municipalities. The watershed model was the correct approach in 1946 and still is today. Read more

Ontario’s wetlands, floodplains, and natural heritage systems provide measurable public benefits by reducing flood damage, protecting drinking water sources, buffering climate extremes, and sustaining biodiversity. Once compromised, these systems are costly, or impossible, to restore. Read more

Hi. This comment is to request that Sault Ste Marie Conservation Authority remain as such and not amalgamated into a larger Northwest entity. I believe that the local management of the trail system is what sets it apart from many other locations. Read more

As a Civil Engineer who relies up CA's for development advice and resources, this is absolutely a terrible idea. Local CA's are experts on the local hydrology and quality control options for the area. Please do not do this. This will delay developments because of the lack of local knowledge. Read more

Reducing the authorities to 7 districts is a really bad idea! How can this possibly work? I foresee layoffs and lack of oversite especially since fewer people will be the doing the jobs that were held by several others. Read more
