I am against the proposed merger of the Conservation Authorities. While collaboration and cooperation are essential to preserving our shared water and land heritage, the mergers will only create overhead and reduce local input. Read more

I disagree with consolidation of conservation authorities. Decisions should be kept with local authorities and there are no valid reasons for consolidations. Hamilton Conservation Authority is a well run organization effectively making decisions that impact local conservation.

I DO NOT AGREE with the proposal. While mergers can be an excellent mechanism for improving efficiencies, this proposal raises major concerns. Local environmental and conservation efforts are far too nuanced and require a legitimate local presence. Read more

I do not support these changes to the legislation. The proposed consolidation shows limited understanding of the importance of local governance in local issues. There is zero sense in consolidating conservation authorities in Huron County with those surrounding Lake Superior. Read more

I want the smaller conservation authorities left in place. I believe local knowledge is best for the environment. Who wants this change? Developers? Why not align the administrative process to be the same for all 36? Read more

While the stated goals of consistency, efficiency, and improved service delivery are important, the proposed consolidation of Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into seven large regional bodies raises serious concerns that are not adequately addressed in this proposal. Read more

I disagree with the proposal of the amalgamation of our conservation areas, the provincial government has proved in the past that they want to take over these areas not to conserve but to eliminate them. Read more

The Friends of the Tay Watershed Association wish to submit the attached comments on the proposal to consolidate Ontario’s 36 Conservation Authorities into seven regional conservation authorities (CAs) and on elements of Bill 68 that would place the authorities’ governance under a board-governed age Read more

I believe this proposal will not achieve the results needed to address conservation in Ontario. This proposal did not allow for stakeholder input and will not contribute to a balanced province wide benefit. I would respectively request that it be reconsidered. Thank you.

The other potential problem with this proposed Bill of reducing 36 authorities to 7, is that each region is unique and can have specific issues to deal with or be looked after. So, if everything is 'centralized' how can work? Read more

I do not support the proposed changes. As a frequent user of the regional conservation authority assets and services that are within my community, I believe that independent oversight of said assets and services is in the best interest of ongoing conservation efforts in Ontario. Read more
