I oppose Bill 68 for many reasons, but I think this was rushed with no consultation, and a merger down to seven is unreasonable. Please consider further consultation and an increase in the number of regions. Read more

We think that the conservative authorities should be left as they are. Cities and towns will be lost if they are in included in larger conservation authorities. The conservation authorities are being run probably as they are & should not be pillaged for development.

I think this is a horrible idea. Keeping the watershed-based CA's is effective at enacting change quickly, being in touch with local issues, and driving effective conservation results. It enables timely and informed decision making. Read more

I oppose this amalgamation of these conversation authorities and I am sure it will lead to these authorities being unable to serve their intended purpose. This reeks of the same arguments the Harris government used to create "megacities", a mistake that is still hurting cities like Ottawa. Read more

This bill will undo years of conservation in Ontario. Each conservation authority is an expert in its associated unique environment. They know things that larger unfocussed organizations will not. Read more

This is an unwarranted interference in what has been a well-run system. Reducing the number of conservation authorities isn't going to be more efficient, but instead create larger bureaucracies further removed from the regions they're supposed to serve.

Really bad idea. Conservation authorities should be hyper local as possible. Making sweeping decisions in a large geographical area does not make sense Preserve the existing authorities and properly fund them. Nature should always be protected first. Read more
