This submission is made in opposition to the proposed boundaries for consolidated Conservation Authorities, and in strong opposition to ongoing changes being made to Conservation Authorities under Bill 68 without any public consultation. Read more

This proposal is an extremely bad idea from start to finish. There are so many different areas of Ontario that have COMPLETELY different terrain and very different solutions for their issues. Their watersheds vary and the local CA's are in a much better position to respond to the different needs. Read more

The Niagara Region should not be consolidated under this consolidated Conservation Act proposal because its geographic size and diversity make uniform governance impractical and ineffective. Read more

Nature doesn’t care about city borders; it follows the water. That’s why, back in 1946, Ontario created Conservation Authorities (CAs). The idea was simple: instead of having a distant provincial office call the shots, local communities would manage their own rivers, forests, and floodplains. Read more

This proposed amalgamation of all Eastern Ontario conservation authorities is a classic case of “bigger is better” thinking that completely ignores how conservation actually works on the ground. Conservation authorities are effective because they are local. Read more

I feel that the existing conservation authorities have been doing an excellent job as they are, combining them will strain resources and have a negative effect on their ability to protect our natural areas and watersheds. Read more

Increasing the boundary size will dramatically reduce the ability of Conservation Authorities to properly care for our lands. Preservation and maintenance of these areas are crucial for our communities and future.

We share a fence line with an NPCA conservation area, and daily interact with the park, it's staff and see the unique educational experiences they offer to local students and all residents in the area. Read more

This move came out of the Premier's office. The conservation Authorities had not been consulted. This is a shady and scandalous power move to develop protected lands. Another attempt at developing the greenbelt and then some. Cease and desist.
