Leave our conservation areas alone. You tried for the green belt & didn’t succeed…we don’t want you destroying our land anymore than you already have. You and your friends can get richer other ways. Can’t wait for the next election…you got to go!

The province of ontario is far too large to be consolidated to just 7 conservation authorities. I can definitely understand wanting to reduce the amount of them, but to go from 36 to 7 is irresponsible. To go to 30 would be the more responsible action.

The Province should consider smaller, more focused regional models that improve efficiency while preserving local knowledge and relationships. A single board representing 81 municipalities will dilute local voices. Local conservation staff and offices understand the water, land and people. Read more

Consolidating conservation authorities is a terrible idea. Each CA that currently exists manages a unique ecosystem with unique needs, which simultaneously protects the people of Ontario from environmental disaster and protects the environment from the impacts of people. Read more

I strongly oppose these changes, especially as they relate to the Hamilton Conservation Authority. The HCA is a lean, well-run organization that is responsive to the public well while always remaining within budget limits set by Hamilton city council. Read more

The Ontario government has already fallen far short of the goals set out over a decade ago in the Lake Simcoe Protection Plan. Lake Simcoe—and the surrounding watershed—is unique in southern Ontario for its proximity to Toronto and smaller cities and its vulnerability to development and pollution. Read more

Let’s not make giant regional boards that get to large and end up disconnected from what is needed in local communities. When organizations get to large they don’t share the resources equally and will tend to favour certain “areas” for political reasons. Local boards know what is needed locally. Read more
