I am very much against the proposed amalgamation of the conservation authorities in Ontario. Local governance, funding, and expertise has been effective at keeping our communities safe and our watersheds managed. The government has not provided a cost benefit analysis. Read more

The consolidation of conservation authorites sounds so appealing but the end result will be a disaster. The current provincial gov't has already significantly weakened the conservation authorites mandate. Read more

After reviewing the documentation I cannot agree with these changes. They appear to be an attempt to remove authority from local conservation authorities and hand it over to the province, and whether to follow procedure can be decided at the whim of the minister. Read more

I fully support amalgamating the conservation authorities as they have become tyrants and against the people. Everyone who is in current positions in these authorities need to be laid off and those who have the public’s interest at heart hired.

I really feel that people need local representation. Not the far and wide spectrum, because local people care more about what's going on in their own back yards so to speak than what's going on hundreds of miles away, loss of local control, local influence and a local resource. Read more

I do not believe the proposed CA amalgamation is a good idea. I have watched it with school boards, school transportation, Health Units and municipal government and overall, believe it doesn't work. Read more

The new proposed boundaries make no sense. The conservation authorities must follow the geography. Some very different areas with different concerns and needs are being lumped together. I have been concerned about the environment in Ontario for well over 50 years. Read more

I do not support the amalgamation as described. The government has failed to explain why this would improve environmental outcomes or how this proposal would result in better protection for our waters. Local knowledge and local staff are proven to provide excellent service. Read more

We are living through a period of time where we need to increase attention and the prioritization of a natural region’s needs. While there are many pressing issues at this time, we cannot neglect the needs of our watershed’s and other regions of biodiversity. Read more

I feel the area is too large to effectively manage with any consistency. Many workers have spent years working within the GRCA for instance and have a strong understanding of said properties and governance. Read more
