I urge the Province NOT to amalgamate Ontario's existing regional conservation authorities. Certainly the Premiere and Ministers are very aware of the diverse ecologies and distinct environments in existing conservation regions. Read more

This is an absurd idea. We have seen already the damage done with other public services like education and healthcare. Environment is not something you play with. It affects the communities people live in and generations to come. I vote an absolute no to amalgamating conservative authorities. Read more

Over my 40 plus years of engineering consulting I worked with and for most of the conservation authorities in Ontario. They all have local matters and concerns that need to be addressed and managed. However those local matters are not necessarily unique or are they difficult to manage. Read more

Ontario is home to many of the best nature landmarks in all of North America. The impact this proposition would have can not be understated. Beyond the obvious of worse maintained trails and lookouts, getting rid of invasive species control can cause significant issues in the long run. Read more

Bigger is NOT better. We have seen that in so many instances - from corporations (with little competition) to health care to education to governments with a majority rule and no pushback from concerned politicians or residents. Read more

This proposal makes very little sense in terms of the programs and services each Conservation Authority offers. This change will not make permitting more efficient, if anything it will increase cost and time. Read more

I disagree with the centralization and reduction of the conservation authorities, as well as the narrowing of their mandate. They have been one of the most effective tools in flood protection and source water protection because of their watershed-based jurisdictional area. Read more

My comments are based on about 20 years as a citizen working closely with Upper Thames River Conservation Authority as a member of one of the many "Friends" groups affiliated with the conservation authority. Read more
