I am totally opposed to the amalgamation of the Conservation Authorities. I am very aware of their function and purpose and to amalgamate them as proposed is a ludicrous idea that will not serve the residents of Ontario at all. Please do not let the changes go through. Read more

In the case of the proposed regional conservation authority (CA) boundaries, bigger is not better. The plan to consolidate the 36 conservation authorities into 7 regional ones also comes with further downloading of costs to local municipalities. Read more

I am commenting on the proposed merger of 36 Conservation areas. I am totally against this merger which will weaken environmental protections of Ontario. There has been no public consultation about this. It is reckless to do this to our beautiful Ontario. Read more

Adding another layer of Bureaucracy, one that is removed from the immediate area to be considered will NOT improve the abilities of the existing Conservation Authorities to carry out the critical task of protecting what little natural areas we have left. The whole regional consolidation is a bad idea. The span of control tries to combine myriad areas isolated from each other and the regions offices. Appears as a power grab for Toronto based decision making which is always a poor idea Read more

• Loss of local expertise: Conservation Authorities are effective because they have detailed, place-based knowledge of local watersheds, soils, flood patterns, and ecological conditions. Regional consolidation risks replacing this knowledge with broader, less specific oversight. Read more
