I do not agree with the changes being proposed to the Endangered Species Act. Our wildlife populations are already on the decline, and it is easy to find stats that prove this time and time again. Read more

The proposed legislation will weaken conservation efforts and increase risks to endangered species. This is not what the Ford government was elected for. Endangered species legislation needs to be strengthened not weakened.

Changes to the Endangered Species Act 2007 will have devastating impact to Ontario eco-system and will destroy our bio-deversity. As a citizen of this province I fear what the changes to the act will do for environment and ask for the government to reconsider these changes. Read more

Endangered species need to be supported and protected across Ontario, they deserve to live clean healthy safe lives in our natural habitats just as we strive to do as people of this province.

For decades we have watched as species after species has been forced out of their natural habitats by human development. Their habitat land has been shrinking and shrinking and more and more species are being displaced by it. Read more

This is a gross amendment to try and pass. Indigenous activists work hard to protect our lands and our animals homes, and something like this is in complete violation of that. Housing can and should happen without further endangering animals, but capitalism and colonialism tells us otherwise. Read more

We cannot continue to gut protection for endangered species for the benefit of developers. This law will have long lasting ramifications and I hope it is not passed into law. Read more

Some of this wording seems very questionable. From having the “government” approve or take away species and allocate funding - which office of government? A wildlife protection branch? Or a city buildings and permits branch? Read more

I am writing today to express my absolute opposition to this proposal. This proposal represents a very concerning step backwards for vital environmental protection in Ontario. I think the message it sends is clear: speed and convenience for development are the priority. Read more

I am appalled that in a time when our Canadian species at risk need support most we are even considering changing an act that protects them. The only change that should be considered is adding further protection to the ecosystems in which our beautiful Canadian wildlife requires. Read more

This act is strictly for builders and rich people. It does not take into account the vulnerability of endangered species. This won't make the process faster or fairer. It will make the process of building more important than saving our Province and it's beauty. Let's be honest here... Read more

As a constituent of Ontario, I am against changes to the ESA that reduces protection for endangered species to benefit economic development. With the increased threat to species from climate change and unchecked development, we should increase such protection, not reduce it.

I am very sad to hear that the Ontario government wants to remove protections of endangered species. We need to keep their ecosystems in tact so they can thrive. It’s very disheartening to know that the removal is for land development. I do not support the removal of the endangered species act. Read more

This bill is irresponsible and shortsighted. Impact to our fragile ecosystems can and has had devastating effects . Let’s be the smart intelligent creatures we allegedly are and let history teach us to be more responsible stewards of our planet

No. If anything, we need stronger laws to protect our natural environment along with it's flora and fauna. Urban green spaces are being taken over by sprawling housing subdivisions with big houses with no greenery except for lawn grass. Ontario can be more innovative with home construction! Read more
