Decades of science and research have shown how important biodiversity is to our environment. We know things now that we did not in the past. We should not be regressing as a society. We need to learn and move forward. Read more

To the Government of Ontario, I am writing to strongly oppose the proposed elimination or weakening of the Endangered Species Act. This legislation is one of the few meaningful protections Ontario has in place to safeguard its most vulnerable species and the fragile ecosystems they depend on. Read more

What strikes me immediately is that redefining "habitat" as a singular den or dwelling and the "area immediately surrounding [it]" seems to serve as a way to permit development within endangered species' habitats by simply denying that they are, in fact, endangered species' habitats. Read more

Please, NEVER reduce protections for any species. We enjoy a glorious array of fauna and wildlife only because of the existing protections in place, and we have already lost so many due to our own ineptitude. Read more

There's no need to grow Ontario at the expense of endangered species. Our government doesn't do enough to protect the people already in the province, let alone add more to the population and strain already inadequate programs and systems. Read more

This bill seems designed to benefit the real estate and resource industries, with no real regard for our environment at all. We can't repeal protection on critical plant and animal habitats in this province in the name of profit.

The Environmental damage this government continues to commit is so out of touch with what is right when considering the future of species in Ontario, and lacks any care for our beautiful province. Read more

I am against this suggested change. Narrowing the definition of "habitat" to only mean nesting areas is likely to result in a reduction of critical habitat, including migration routes and feeding grounds. Many bird species rely on a network of areas for resting during migration and gathering food. Read more

This is disgusting. What is the benefit behind this? What is the goal behind this other than to make it easier for eminent domain to take place regarding land grabs from the government? Read more

Building is important but not at the expense of the environment. To ignore protections for species at risk in order to expedite development is to risk eliminating the natural diversity necessary for a healthy ecosystem. Read more

I am writing to express my concern regarding Bill 5, the “Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025.” This legislation proposes to repeal the Ontario Endangered Species Act and replace it with the weaker Species Conservation Act, a move that I believe threatens Ontario’s biodiversity, Indi Read more

Please consider the wildlife in different areas. They need their whole ecosystem to survive. Destroying more of their homes will endanger a lot more species. This should not be change it exist for a reason.

Our endangered species are endangered because we have not respected their habitats! The science teaches us that we are all connected in the chain. The science says this! Not some powerful bureaucrat. Science is objective. Read more
