No. We are losing native species at a fast rate. We should be doing more to protect them. This is just a cost cutting exercise and will affect diversity and put more wildlife at risk Read more

Please reconsider these changes. Animals cannot thrive under voluntary and selective ecosystem protection. This will significantly damage the environment and ecosystems throughout Ontario.

This proposal is extremely short-sighted and does not respect well documented scientific evidence that species at risk need their habitat protected year-round to ensure that they survive. See Habitat loss and degradation are the biggest threats to species at risk worldwide. Read more

Please do not change this current act. Our animals need to be protected in a meaningful way, it’s our responsibility as humans. We are here to take care of the land, not profit from it :( Read more

The Endangered Species Act was gold standard legislation, and gutting in and replacing it with this bill is Trumpian and regressive. I don’t want to live in an Ontario where politicians get to decide what species deserve protection, instead of scientists. Read more

The precautionary principle is the international standard for development and environmental decisions. Where possible damage is unknown government should proceed with the goal of causing minimum of damage. Small pockets of nature should be protected not destroyed and regret follows .

Please do not remove protections for endangered species. Species are lost every day due to loss of habitat and other human interventions. Eliminating existing protections will only make things worse.

I feel that this proposal is nothing more than an attempt to circumvent the current rules in place to protect wildlife so that protected land can be disturbed and developed at will. Read more

The environment is in crisis and this is not the time to be reducing our ecosystems protection. It is unethical and greedy to sacrifice our environment for further development.

We simply cannot afford to make the changes that are proposed to the endangered species act. We must keep an eye on the future, for our province, for our planet and for our children. Read more
