I'm worried that by not requiring a review process before proceeding with work that damage will already be done to natural environments and without clauses for 'recovery' that remedying any issues created by this process will be difficult. Read more

I oppose bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections and the protection of endangered species. I oppose shortcuts for industry. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.

Our greenery and our protected lands and animals makes Ontario what it is today. If you have to change the endangered animals list please let it be because we have taken revitalized their populations, not because a greedy politician wants to build whatever on their land. Read more

I strongly disagree with the notion that developers and contractors can start their work on a site simply be registering and then, after that, sort out how they will protect endangered species in the area of the project. You may as well have no controls at all! Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5. Repealing the Endangered Species Act and allowing unchecked development through Special Economic Zones threatens Ontario’s environment, biodiversity, and Indigenous rights. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5, your plans are not in the best interest of the people and the creatures that live on this land. We need strong enviormental protections not a decrease in them, especially at a time where the climate crisis isn't getting any better. Read more

I’m against this bill because it’s important in the long term to protect our rights to an environment that is sustainable. Short term economic gains should not override this right. Protected species should be a priority. This bill allows for overriding land rights. Read more

At a time when our wildlife numbers, particularly bird species, are declining year over year, weakening protections for them is appalling, outrageous. That's essentially what this change to the regulations is doing. Don't do this! We can't afford to lose more birds. Read more

The thought of risking endangered species in favour of industry short cuts that may or may not have an effect on the cost of housing is sickening. I thought I lived in a great country that took pride in the land they live on, Canada is the most environmentally diverse country in the world. Read more

I would be appalled if we removed these protections on our wildlife and endangered species. It's outright anti-canadian to do so. We as Canadians have pride in our wildlife and supporting endangered species to keep their numbers stable, of not growing. Read more

I oppose this bill. I want stronger protections for the environment and endangered species, not shortcuts for businesses to destroy it with no public oversight. I oppose the overriding of the law in special economic zones. This bill should not pass.

This bill does nothing but make it faster for the premier to sell off public land to private developers without consulting the public, just like the GIANT mistake he made with selling Ontario Place. Read more
