The government is responsible for protecting our natural habitats and native wildlife, ESPECIALLY those that are endangered. The government is NOT responsible for causing the destruction of the land we all love. Do not overturn the endangered species act.

It is apparent that the proponents registering their project(s) will not have the expertise necessary to correctly identify protected species/ habitats. It is necessary that a protected species professional is involved in the registration/ approval process before the project can begin. Read more

Environments and ecosystems are more complex than we could ever imagine. As a third year in a biology major I know how much is unknown. In order to fully assess every possible impact we can, efforts need to be long and costly. Read more

Doug Ford is once again putting profits over people and the environment. This is disastrous to our diverse Ontario wildlife and the lack of Indigenous counsel over this proposal is a slap in the face. I urge all to strike these proper changes down. For once, let Ontario not be an embarrassment.

A healthy natural ecosystem is good for humans and animals. We gain the benefits of access to a natural world (great for mental health), potentials for new medications from organisms yet discovered, environmental buffer zones to protect farms and human residences from bad weather, etc. Read more

This is an absolutely shameful proposal that has nothing to do with environmental protection and everything to do with (literally) paving the way for developers to face zero hurdles so that they can do whatever they want, regardless of the consequences to our ecosystem. Read more

Removing the ability to allow public concerns to be brought forward while allowing work to begin is not going to protect the critical ecosystems. We need to protect our land, not let it be destroyed by those who would abuse the system.

This proposal is, frankly, absurd. Does the Ford government really want to desecrate Ontario's natural beauties and unique species endemic to our province all for the possibility of increased profit? Read more

This legislation a thinly veiled move to completely decimate conservation action and protection for development, many of those developers with close ties and direct lobbying payments to our current government. Read more

Efficiency is not always effective. We need checks and balances that are science based, not rooted in partisan politics. Our beautiful Province is made less so when sensitive habitat is ruined by development and roads interrupt wildlife corridors. Read more

Prioritizing infrastructure projects that don’t need to be done just to line the pockets of Ford’s buddies at the cost of our fragile ecosystems and endangered species is so wildly stupid it could have only been proposed by the Ford government. Read more

The Endangered Species Act is essential to the health of our province and our people by ensuring that development does not compromise ecosystem health. The amended Act is a skeleton of its former self and unable to fulfill its mandate and purpose. I reject the Bill amending this act wholeheartedly.
