The proposed definition of habitat lacks clarity—many species require significantly more space than just a dwelling and its immediate surroundings to carry out necessary processes. Why has the decision been made that "harassment" of a species does not require a permit? Read more

Unacceptable and disgusting to even consider gutting these protections. You did not obtain a mandate to destroy wildlife species. This must be stopped and those involved must be investigated. Doug Ford needs to step down if this is the "forward thinking" of his party Read more

This proposal will have lifelong consequences to the environment and the people of Ontario, all for some short-term profits for an already rich group of people. DO NOT DO THIS! Read more

I am writing with serious concerns about the proposed changes to Ontario's Endangered Species Act (ESA) and the new Species Conservation Act (SCA) outlined in ERO #025-0380. I believe these changes risk weakening critical protections for Ontario's vulnerable plants and animals. Read more

This amendment is simply not acceptable. A core principle of administrative law is that the government ought to be left a large amount of discretion. The expectation, of course, is that this discretion will not be abused by said government. Read more

I strongly oppose any weakening of the Endangered Species Act or the creation of legislation that speeds up development at the cost of wildlife and ecosystems. Delays and costs are not a justification for sacrificing Ontario’s rich biodiversity. Read more

The Endangered Species Act was created to protect important species across Ontario. Gutting it to allow for mine development is unnecessary and a detriment to not only our species but also our environment. Read more

I do not support this proposal. Environmental protection is a core trait of Ontario that makes it such a beautiful place to live. The natural beauty and diversity entices people to care about their neighbourhoods, connect with nature, and participate in healthy recreational activities. Read more

The redefinition of habitat is incredibly inaccurate. It is saying that my habitat is only my house and that all I need to survive is my house. I don't need to have a space designated to get food or need protected areas to move between places.

I strongly oppose this new legislation, which not only dismantles essential protections for endangered wildlife and ecosystems, but also disregards the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous communities. This bill represents a profound failure of responsible governance. Read more

We have come so far in Ontario/Canada with protecting our species at risk. We know people will always try to take as many short cuts to save/make money. Do you really think builders care about much more than bottom line. This is why rules and regulations have been put in place. Read more

We should not be sacrificing protected wildlife in the interests of making a quick buck. We CERTAINLY should not be railroading our First Nations communities' interests. I oppose the “Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act, 2025”

This would be detrimental to Ontario’s ecosystems, and would not do a single thing to improve this failing province. Species are at risk because of already existing habitat destruction. Read more

It's frankly embarrassing that in 2025 we still have to fight to protect endangered species and land. "Move fast and break things" is a terrible practice in the digital space, why would anyone think it'd work in the physical space when literal lives are at stake.

As a conservative voter, hunter, and outdoorsman its very important to me that the province will ensure that our natural spaces and wildlife are protected. I don't want to see this proposal be used to weaken the regulations already in place. Read more

As a Canadian Citizen, and a human being, I am against this with every part of my being. Don’t do it. If I have the power to stop it, or at least have a say in it, I will want to stop it.

These are worrying steps back in conservation efforts in Ontario. The erosion of our provincial government's protections against ecological loss and species extinction are abundantly clear. Read more

Keeping our environment safe and allowing it to flourish are many peoples wishes within ontario. Gutting and changing a valuable act that allows species to be properly protected from the destruction of humans is important. Especially species that are at risk of going extinct. Read more
