What is wrong with the current system? Why is the change necessary now? How is this going to better improve our protection of endangered animals. Nothing in the statement backs this and it would be regressive to scale back our protection. Read more

The salamanders are a critically endangered species and therefore it is crucial they are protected. I much rather have a species not go extinct and thrive than housing be built just a bit faster.

With every year it becomes more clear how important it is to maintain the biodiversity we have left, and how foolhardy we've been in the past. We must not compound the effects of climate change further by rolling back hard fought protections for our most vulnerable species

The long process is so important for our biodiversity. I understand housing is important but doing the due diligence of making sure that housing isn't harming ontario is just as important

As someone who wants to see progress and development that uplifts Canadians, I DO NOT SUPPORT these changes to the Endangered Species Act. Go through the proper processes and receive input from Indigenous Groups, who's land you're developing.

I don’t like the government determining what is at risk and what isn’t….they just want to push development, so they won’t care. Letting developers voluntarily follow guidelines and regulations for species at risk won’t work as developers don’t care and barely follow rules now !!! Read more

We cannot make these changes. We must value our natural world and species, once they are gone there is no coming back. I agree we need housing and transit but not at the expense of other living creatures. There is a solution to ensure both robust species protection and create houses. Read more

The changes to this act will immensely negatively impact our environment, oir health, our children, and our careers. I was both incredibly disappointed in our government and outraged when I first read the changes outlined in this proposal! Read more

Please please take a moment to realize that once changes are made to lessen penalties and increase opportunities to disregard the earth's sensitive areas, the ramifications are unlimited and can't be undone. Read more

The proposal to removed the Endangered Species Act outlines how little the Ford government cares about wildlife and the environment. Its removal proves to be dangerous, putting vulnerable wildlife at greater risk. Read more

There is no transparency or clarity around what constitutes a 'special economic zone'. This reads that any sitting government will have full capability to select any project as a special economic zone to override what little protections remain. Read more

The haste to make it easier to build and develop land will result in sloppiness and inaccurate evaluation of impacts on endangered species. I strongly object to the focus on "dens," nests, etc. without also including the surrounding habitats/environments and broader ecosystems. Read more

This is absolutely egregious on so many levels! It is our responsibility to strengthen protections for biodiversity, not weaken them, for future generations! The short term gain for the few who would benefit is not worth the irreversible damage these changes would cause. Read more

The new proposal for the Endangered Species Act does not prioritize species at risk of being endangered or that are currently endangered. The act should continue to prioritize species protection and conservation over economic considerations in Ontario. Read more
