I oppose bill 5. I want stronger environmental protections and the protection of endangered species. I oppose shortcuts for industry. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones.

Since the provincial government has said it themselves, it is clear that the passing of Bill 5 will only serve to deregulate the system set out in the Endangered Species Act that Ontario has used for over a decade to help conserve and recover our native species. Read more

It is easy to foresee that economic forces from beyond Canada could drive people to take shortcuts that would put additional pressure on our environment. Human-driven climate change is a crisis that isn't getting the reaction it needs. Now is not the time to make taking shortcuts easier.

I hate this proposal with every fibre of my being. You were going against indigenous rights and the protections of the environment. Our planet is already facing a global catastrophe due to climate change. Canada and its land is unlike any other on the planet. Read more

I am an honours graduate of Earth and Environmental Sciences at McMaster University, and I strongly oppose Bill 5. The proposed bill is unacceptable in this time of climate crisis. It is estimated that anywhere from 15 to 150 species go extinct EVERY DAY. Read more

I strongly oppose these changes. The changes you plan to make to the 2007 ESA pose great potential risk at our ability to protect all living beings. The current ESA allows us to take an ecosystem approach to species protection and conservation. Read more

I oppose Bill 5. I believe in strong environmental protections, especially for Ontario's endangered wildlife and at-risk species. The process may be slow, but it ensures that the natural world is preserved and available for future generations to enjoy and learn about. Read more

Do not implement this! It would be a mistake to give the government such sweeping override power, especially when the government party (Ford) has previous scandals tied to protected lands (the Greenbelt). Read more

I oppose Bill 5- no construction on Indigenous lands. The environment and its species over profit. Do not repeal the endangered species act. I want stronger protections for the environment. I oppose shortcuts for industry. Listen to the Indigenous People’s and the public.
