I do not support the passing of Bill 5 - removing the safeguards in place in favour of offering developers and other proponents leeway to shirk responsibilities related to environmental stewardship and management is incredibly irresponsible, and damaging. Read more

These are ineffective protections for wild and endangered species. For the animals especially protecting the den is not helpful unless there is also a safe way for the animal to reach it's den, restricting the protections to just the immediate area is the same as blocking that animal from it's den. The current approach to the protection and conservation of species at risk is insufficient to achieve the goal of protecting lives in Ontario. This new proposal criminally prioritizes housing, transit and infrastructure ahead of lives. This is shameful and must not proceed.
