I oppose Bill five. I do not agree with it’s changed to the endangered species act and I do not agree with projects being given a go ahead without going through rigorous, environmental and scientific review.

This proposal is a terrible idea for the current and future prosperity of Ontarians and the natural environment we rely upon. I have an advanced degree in forest conservation and have spent my career focused on examining and remedying impacts of human activity on the environment. Read more

Dear Premier Ford and Cabinet, I have often disagreed with your government’s perspective and approach to the the environment, but Bill 5 is a new level of disrespect and depravity. It is an assault not only on nature and biodiversity, but on our very democracy. Read more

With regard to who can remove species from the legal protected list, politicians should not replace the committee of scientists to make legal listing and protection decisions. Read more

Changing the Endangered Species Act would put animals native to our province at risk. Which in turn would make our natural industries less profitable. Our forestry industry relies on our native ecosystem, which in turn relies on our native species. Read more

Getting rid of checks and balances for the sake of efficiency does not keep us or our environment safe. It is worth the wait on construction and maintenance projects to ensure we protect our most vital resource: the land in which we live. Read more

I am strongly against this bill and its harmful effects on the environment. This is obviously only proposed to benefit rich developers and not protect Ontario’s habitats and wildlife. Please don’t pass this bill as is. It needs a lot of revision and oversight.

Please rethink this before it is too late. This bill is extremely short sighted and has no regard for the future. Once we lose species as a result of bulldozing habitats we can't get it back. The environment needs our protection even more with wild fires and storms only increasing in power. Read more

It is hard to believe that Ford has genuine concerns for the environment, and is not simply attempting to exploit loopholes or remove already limited restrictions on business at the expense of the environment, given his Ontario place spa debacle. Read more
