This is a catastrophic move. As our natural spaces are being destroyed by human caused climate change, we need to be increasing our support of endangered species and green spaces, not trying to accelerate this ecological emergency as Bill 5 will do. Read more

The language used in this change of the act is highly damaging to the species at risk within the province; namely the change in definition of how we protect our Endangered plants in the province. Read more

I support the comments made by the Canadian Environmental Law Association, that, in CELA’s view, “Schedule 2 of Bill 5 proposes an excessively narrow definition of animal habitat is analogous to just protecting a house bedroom, but omitting any protection for other important areas (i.e. Read more

This bill is wrong and offensive to someone like me who loves nature and cares about the environment. It weakens all kinfs of environmental protection of plants animals and the environment they live in. Please consider future generations and do not pass this bill

Unleashing the economy? The phrasing suggests freedom, but in reality, we know this will mean unchecked development. The Ford government has shown time and time again that their priority is ignoring the good of Ontario in order to line the pockets of developers. Read more

I am concerned with the amount this current government already refuses to follow protocol and constantly circumvents their constituents wishes, that being given the ability to essentially bypass all regulations, will allow unprecedented damage to the environment, as well as a complete disregard for Read more

Our municipal processes, environmental protections, and indigenous consultation are not "red tape", they are completely necessary procedures to ensure we are developing responsibly and in the right direction and not making mistakes that we, our neighbours, and our planet will pay for later. I am absolutely appalled that such a bill is even being considered. Why are we purposefully destroying our planet for the sake of developers? Even the summary of the bill itself is shocking to read, stating that protecting species at risk is "complicated and takes too long". Seriously? Read more

I support a politician who prioritizes environmental protection and advocates for stronger regulations. Not the opposite. Bill 5 is a disgrace. I can’t believe that in 2025 a government thinks it is acceptable to destroy the habitat of endangered species in the name of building homes. Read more

I oppose Bill 5 and the proposed changes to the Endangered Species Act. Developers should be responsible for helping steward and maintain the balance of Ontario’s ecosystems, and allowing for the expedition of development contracts is unlikely to encourage that kind of mindset.
