This proposed bill is meant to circumnavigate and prevent government decisions from taking environmental concerns at face value, and effectively disregards environmental concerns when considering new infrastructure projects. Read more

Please do not move forward with Bill 5. Conserving species biodiversity makes our environment resilient, which contributes to the well-being of Ontarians. Changing the definition of ‘habitat’ means important areas for species conservation will not be protected. Read more

I am a family physician, a grandmother and a bird lover. I am appalled by many aspects of Bill 5, particularly the decimation of the Endangered Species Act. This government seems to care more about liquor prices than about the future of our planet. Read more

I oppose changing the Endangered Species Act. After helping to stop Landfill Site 41 in 2009/2010 it became apparent that protecting our environment, biodiversity and water cannot be tampered with under the guise of development or tariff protections. Read more

If the current process takes too long, we should be hiring more people to help with the workload, not getting rid of the process altogether. We need to protect our land and its inhabitants. The laws are there to stop people from making unsafe decisions. I do not support the proposed changes.

I am writing as a concerned Ontario resident who values our provinces biodiversity. Bill 5 threatens to weaken protections for species at risk and their habitats – protections that have been established through decades of scientific research and conservation efforts. Read more

This act should not pass until every Indigenous group in Ontario is consulted and agrees it should move forward. It sounds like loopholes are being created in order to benefit construction companies. Read more

We do not want environmental protections removed just to build faster!!! You are going to destroy what little flood protections we currently have by building where we shouldn't and lead to the extinction of numerous species that are integral to our ecosystems. Please!!! Read more

I believe this new law is harmful for the environment. It seems to come from an economic process and doesn't appear to draw any of it's information from environmental sources. Read more
