Determining the status of endangered species has no business being decided by politicians, whose views may be skewed by considerations other than the actual status of the creature. It should be up to a committee of those who study science to make that determination. Read more

This appears to make it easier to tread on wilderness and habitats. Ecosystems are complex, experts should be consulted, and it shouldn't be left up to politicians to deem what is a habitat or what actions are fine and permitted. Read more

I oppose this bill. It guts protections, ignores science, threatens to ruin essential ecosystems in the name of unnecessary development. I get that environment protections are inconvenient, but they exist for the protection of all species. This bill needs to be scrapped.

Development without consideration of the wildlife and biodiversity in Ontario shouldn’t be allowed. This area is home to delicate species through migration patterns and year round. Such things should definitely be considered and definitely have regulations to limit biodiversity loss. Read more

Removing protection for endangered species will reverse all the hard work that has been occurring over numerous years. Nature is so important to protect and the government can do better than taking protection for these crucial species. It’s not just them it’s all the others too! Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act outlined in ERO 025-0380. These revisions represent a dangerous step backward for environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and Indigenous rights. Read more

Getting rid of the endangered species act is a huge step backwards and will bring shame to Ontario. Our beautiful forests and wildlife are one of the key draws of this province and species at risk are depending on us.

I oppose Bill 5. It guts protections, ignores science, and tramples Indigenous rights. Please we need to do better and care for the people who really need it. I’m so tired of this. This isn’t helping anyone aside from developers. I thought Doug Ford cared about regular folks. Read more

The government of Ontario has no right to remove species from the EDA for the sake of “sustainable economic growth”. This is just another get-rich quick scheme for uncontrolled land developments on top of critical habitats. Read more

You are creating a massive set back to all birds! This is unbelievable! And all for what?!!someone is NOT thinking clearly. The Indigenous people were here first and I pray they stop this nonsense! I am a First Nations individual. Don’t be like the gov’t and erase all living birds. Read more

This is not what I voted for and was not even a mention of this kind of legislation during the election. Maintaining the endangered species act, and ensuring the rights and input of First Nations need to be addressed and respected.
