I firmly oppose this proposed legislation, which not only strips away critical protections for endangered species and fragile ecosystems but also disregards the rights and sovereignty of Indigenous Peoples. This bill is a striking example of irresponsible governance. Read more

Endangering birds and other animals in our wetlands and forests should not be tolerated. There are many other options that should be looked at before making decisions that are irreversible

Scrap this bill! What are you thinking? Not about our green spaces, our connection to nature, our water, wildlife, that much is clear. People leave urban areas for green spaces, we want to be in nature. The cost of losing our spaces, our animals and our nature is not worth it. Read more

As an avid outdoor hunter, the idea you must only protect a "dwelling place" for many of the habitats that hold Canada's wildlife is absurd. There is wildlife that migrates, wildlife that has different breeding areas instead of dwelling areas. Read more

For my feelings on this proposal, I would have to say that it represents a significant steps backwards in both conservation and environmental protection. The almighty dollar cannot be attached to biodiversity - biodiversity and nature are priceless. Read more

This is absurd and nothing but an abuse of power designed to further destroy precious natural resources. To say my faith in Doug Ford and his PC cabinet has fallen is a gross understatement. Read more

I am very disappointed to hear that the government plans to fast track development at the expense of threatened species before adequate and in-depth studies and environmental assessments of habitats are performed, assessing if endangered species live or could possibly be living in that area. I oppose this bill! It feels like, yet again, an underhanded way to rape and pillage our resources. The Indigenous need to be consulted! Environmental studies need to be done. We cannot ignore the long term damage that can and will be done. Read more

These proposed changes are a horrendous idea that will decimate Ontario’s wildlife and lead to extinctions for incredibly short term and minor gains. Wildlife need far more than their nest and dwelling to survive, we must protect expansive areas for these species to have a fighting chance. Read more

Why are we going backwards? I understand that there’s a push for the economy to grow, but where does it end? When it’s too late to turn back and we have to start rationing what’s left? We need a government who has a back bone to do what is needed and right. Read more

I am writing to oppose the proposed changes to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act. These changes would weaken protections for the birds and other species that are already in steep decline across the province, and they pose a serious threat to the broader biodiversity that sustains our ecosystems. Repealing of the Endangered Species Act is one of the most offensive things that the Ford government has ever attempted. This new law will give developers a free pass to destroy crucial habitat for the most vulnerable plants and animals in the province. Ontario's species at risk deserve protection. Read more
