I do not support this proposal for changing endangered species legislation. This is a very bad idea. Our birds need better protection not worse. Environmental protections have been long fought for and the idea that this will improve housing is just ridiculous.

It is of utmost importance that the Endangered species act currently in place not be changed. Ontario stretches vast geographical area and contains biodiversity that is both unique and irreplaceable once gone. I’m not a scientist, I’m a private land owner of 93 acres of forest. Read more

This bill presents serious consequences for wildlife, ecosystems and the environment. I sincerely hope the government will reconsider this proposal and instead prioritize the protection of endangered species.

I am appalled and disgusted at the proposed legislation changes. Our province has these protections for species-at-risk in place for a reason, and reversing them serves only to benefit the rich at the expense of our planet. I do not support this change at all. Read more

Bill 5 is a reckless attack on Ontario’s environment. It strips away essential protections for endangered species and fragile ecosystems, catering to developers at the expense of our future. This bill is irresponsible, short-sighted, and must be stopped.

Wildlife in Ontario needs our help more than ever. Building is important but the environment even more so. Habitat is destroyed in the dead of night (Ontario) with no consequences. Enough is enough. Protect- don’t destroy. Read more

Please be advised that we need all spieces for this plant to survive, all creatures have a purpose and allowing development in natural areas will eliminate areas for birds, ect to continue to exist. Once these Natural areas are removed we cannot replace them. Read more

Please leave the protection for our endangered species in place. Removing protections will have a significant impact on species survival and allow the destruction of essential habitats.

I care about the species that will be affected by the proposed changes. I care about the future of at-risk birds and would want to see the forests, wetlands, and grasslands they depend on protected for future generations. I do not agree with the proposed changes to this act.

NO!! The proposed changes put species at risk and give economic growth top priority. This is NOT a path to a sustainable future. We cannot continue paving over our wetlands, farmlands, and forests and expect to maintain a healthy human population as we destroy our environment. Read more

If passed, Bill 5 would: Repeal Ontario’s Endangered Species Act, 2007, marking the end of meaningful protections for endangered, threatened and special concern species in Ontario. But it is much bigger than this! Read more

We cannot move backwards! We have made progress to protect our environment and the creatures that live in it. A government that want to reduce protections in place for almost 20 years is not acting for our best interests. Read more

The proper time needs to be taken when considering conservation of species at risk! This needs to be prioritized over infrastructure and housing. I want to live in a place that respects and preserves nature.

The current ESA is functioning very well to protect species and especially habitat. It is short sighted to believe that only the 'animal' and its immediate vicinity of a nest den is adequate protection. Read more

I care deeply about the future of at-risk birds and want to see the forests, wetlands, and grasslands they depend on protected for future generations. People need time in nature and nature requires us to protect it from people who want to harm it! Step up and do the right thing, please.

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed repeal of Ontario’s Endangered Species Act, 2007 and its replacement with the significantly weakened Species Conservation Act, 2025 under Bill 5, the Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act. Read more
