This proposal will destroy biodiversity - species and ecosystem - and greatly endanger that already in existence. Habitats are threatened enough by construction and deforestation in the name of progress, and we can’t allow that to happen in Ontario.

I am appalled at the thought of our government even considering this legislation. What we need is more funding for studying species at risk, not less protection for the environment. What's next for Ontario - drill baby drill?? Read more

I would suggest that Ontario makes absolutely no change to the esa or Endangered Species Act. Our Wildlife is essential to the well-being of Ontario and all of North America. The luxury of speeding up development is not worth the loss of habitat and the loss of species associated with this loss. Read more

This new proposal sounds like a fast means to pave the way for developers on potentially environmentally sensitive lands for plants and animals. The protection of species should always be the first priority. Read more

This proposal is an egregious attack on Ontario wildlife and their habitats and should NOT be allowed to proceed. As I am certain many others will say, this is a significant step backwards for bird conservation in the province. Read more

Please reconsider changing the environmental protection act. We need to preserve and protect the other species of flora and fauna that we share our only sustainable planet with and not destroy their habitats. Read more

I am appalled that the province would turn back the clock on endangered species. I thought Ontario had come further than this. Housing is needed, so true. Affordable housing, specifically. And it is easy to place a dollar value on housing. Read more

This is a farce of a proposal that is in no way based on any biological science or evidence. The purpose of this legislation is clearly to bulldoze environmental protections in favour of development, and would be disastrous from an ecological perspective. Read more

When looking at what slows down development, the blame should not be put on the endangered species act. This act ensures that critical habitat is not disrupted in unnecessary ways for species across Ontario. Read more

Many aspects of this proposed bill present a danger to existing animal habitats via the narrow definition/scope and unilateral decision-making without expert scientific consultation. Read more
