SUBMISSION: SUPPORT OPA 405 I strongly support the submission entered by the Republic ResidentsAssociation (RRA) outlining in detail the importance of endorsing OPA 405 (Option 3). I now appeal personally to show the real and emotional human impact of unchecked development.
I have lived at Yonge and Eglinton for over eight years. I would like to start by saying I am not opposed to development at Yonge and Eglinton. Properly planned development brings many positive influences to a neighbourhood, but over development can have a long term drastic impact.
I fully support the MIF report. As a long-term architecture/design critic, I have become increasingly concerned that the true heritage of our mid-town neighbourhoods will be irrevocably lost if the city does not take a firmer hand in controlling hitherto uncontrolled development.
I fully support the position of the South Eglinton Ratepayers' and Residents' Association (SERRA) on this matter and the proposal itself. The south Eglinton area is under assault by developers just doing what developers do. An updated plan is way overdue.
To Those Deciding on this Proposal and Any Others Like It I live in the Yonge/Eglinton area and have for 41 years. I have a general comment that can apply to this proposal, which just tries to treat the symptoms of the underlying real issue, and all other similar proposals.
I have lived in the Yonge and Eglinton neighbourhood for almost 20 years and have seen many changes. What is happening now has me very concerned and questioning those in charge!
While I understand that growth and development can be good for the city, there is too much of it going on in the midtown area - Yonge/Davisville/Eglinton/Mount Pleasant. The infrastructure (water/sewer/transit/schools) does not seem to have been factored into any of the decision-making.
I strongly support a reduction in planned height and density, especially along Eglinton Avenue and especially at points away from the Y/E intersection.
I am supportive of option 3. I enjoy the neighborhood as it is today. I dont want the view to be obstructed by taller buildings nor the sunlight be diminished. Thanks
As a resident for the past 10 years in the Yonge and Eglinton community I would like to highlight some issues : Building heights in the area shadows access to sunlight yet condo construction continues at a rapid pace, there is a lack of green space in the community, extensive traffic and safety i
Option 3 is the sole option that addresses the huge and overwhelming development burden that is being imposed on the north-east quadrant where I reside. Option 3 is the only option that has a chance of reducing the already extreme impact on the in place infrastructure.
I totally support the adoption of Option 3 adopted by Toronto City Council as part of the Yonge-Eglinton Official Plan Amendment, the Yonge-Eglinton Secondary Plan and the Midtown in Focus Study!!!! This area is far too congested now, let alone when all existing construction is finished.
The Yonge Eglinton area is very over developed. We need a plan so schools, community centres and transit can catch up. Please move forward with the existing plan.
This plan needs to be approved so that growth occurs responsibly and that: Social services such as childcare, seniors supports, and youth recreation programs are in place to support residents quality of life Green space, public squares, community centres, are provided to make Yonge-Eglinton a m
